After having one of the most successful careers in Formula One history—earning 15 wins and 50 podium finishes, plus a 2009 World Championship—then taking a turn at the Super GT series, Jenson Button recently announced his return to the driver’s to pilot NASCAR’s Garage 56 entry in the 24 Hours of Le Mans alongside Jimmie Johnson and Mike Rockenfeller.
Now, Dirt reports the UK-born racer has also decided to veer away from at least one of his Palm Springs vacation homes, hoisting a Spanish Colonial-style residence in the historic El Mirador neighborhood onto the market fully furnished for $2.5 million. Per listing agent Joseph Babineaux of HK Lane Real Estate, Button and his wife Brittny paid Ali McGraw’s son Joshua Evans $2.4 million for the place in February 2022.
The couple have decided to sell because they already own another vacation rental in the area, a “Beverly Hills Hotel-inspired” property known as The Mesa Bungalows that’s currently undergoing a renovation. “Between my design career and Jenson’s busy work schedule, on top of our family life, we don’t have time to manage two homes in Palm Springs,” says Brittny. “We are so sad to say goodbye, but we know whoever is lucky enough to purchase the property will be very happy there.”
Built way back in the 1940s, and designed by noted architect John Porter Clark, the walled and gated villa now up for sale has four bedrooms and four baths in just over 3,000 square feet of modernized yet Old World-style living space adorned throughout with Saltillo tile floors, high wood-beam ceilings and French doors offering seamless indoor/outdoor environs. There’s also a casita, plus palm tree-laced grounds sporting an eye-catching water fountain out front and two-car garage tucked off to the side.
Highlights include a spacious kitchen outfitted with top-tier Dacor and Sub-Zero appliances, and an accompanying breakfast nook sporting banquette seating. An adjoining dining area connects to a living room, which is spotlighted by a floor-to-ceiling fireplace clad in stone; and elsewhere is a family room. Going the extra mile? The property’s grassy grounds, which span over a third of an acre and host a pool and spa, fire-pit, built-in barbecue and covered wraparound veranda—all offering up picturesque mountain views.
In addition to their Palm Springs homes, the Buttons also maintain a primary residence in Calabasas that is currently undergoing a transformation by Brittny’s interior design firm Stone & Button. Last year, the pair netted a total of $9.3 million on two properties they sold in Palm Springs and Santa Monica.
